Section 2.  Upon receiving the Application for New Student Organization form, the Legislative Branch shall vote to accept or reject the proposed organization鈥檚 bid for a charter with a majority vote. If the vote is passed by the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch shall vote to accept or reject the proposed organization鈥檚 bid for a charter by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present and voting.

Section 3.  If the SGA rejects an organization鈥檚 charter, it shall present a written statement of the reasons for its action to the proposed organization鈥檚 representatives. These representatives may reapply when they have complied with charter requirements.

Section 4.  The President of the SGA shall communicate the final recommended acceptance or rejection decision to the Coordinator of Student Activities and the Vice President for Student Services. Back To Top

Section 5.  The organization will be recognized as an official campus organization during the semester in which they petitioned.

Section 6.  Newly established organizations will not be included into the budget or receive an activity funds until the beginning of the next fiscal year. Upon approval by the SGA, Coordinator of Student Activities and the Vice President for Student Services, a signed copy of the approval will be given to the faculty/administrative advisors. This will constitute official recognition of the organization.

1. Election of student officers may be conducted after approval, not before.
2. Other requirements of active organizations, as stated in this guidebook, must then be complied with.

All extracurricular student organizations must be approved by the Student Government Association, Coordinator of Student Activities and Vice President for Student Services. The membership provisions must not exclude anyone because of his/her race, color, sex, age or disabilities.

College recognition gives certain privileges to organizations and activities. These include:

1. Recognition of the club or organization in college publications.
2. Use of college facilities and services.
3. The possible granting of monies from the activity fund.

In order to maintain official recognition, the following materials must be either on file or filed as required each academic year with the Coordinator of Student Activities:

A statement of purpose of constitution and bylaws as applicable. Note: If the proposed organization is to be an affiliate of a national organization, the policies of the college take precedence over any policies or conditions of the national or parent organization. Copies of the constitution and other materials of the parent organization must be filed with the application.

1. At the close of the academic year, a completed Student Organization Evaluation form.
2. At the close of the academic year, a completed Student Activity Fund Budget Request form.
3. At the start of each academic year, a list of current officers. Each of these forms will be sent to the organization鈥檚 advisor in mid-April to be completed and returned in early May.
